13 foot half hull model of Wickes Class Destroyer : A rare plating model of a Wickes class destroyer built for the US Navy by the Camden Shipyards, Camden, NJ between 1917 - 1919.  This was a working yard model; the markings on it indicated where to attach the steel plates to the frame of the hulls of the destroyers as they were built.  Camden Shipyards, owned by New York Shipbuilding, was founded in 1899 by Henry G. Morse and went on to build over 500 vessels for the US Navy, Merchant Marine and US Coast Guard.  It ceased operations in 1969.  At its peak, during World War II, Camden Shipyards was the largest and most productive shipyard in the World.
