English Regency mahogany tea caddy with fruitwood seashell inlay.

18th century English Georgian mahogany tea caddy with herringbone and banded inlaid borders and oval conch shell satinwood inlay on the top. With hinged lid enclosing lidded interior retaining partial paper foil lining.  Circa 1790.

This is a sweet little box with a lot of character, I love the original faded exterior surface. It has some nice details, the herringbone inlay along the borders pf the front and top, the shield form fruit wood escutcheon. A lovely decorative piece. "China" written on the inside of the top to show the origin of the tea.
