A 19th Century French bronze d'ore vase "Apotheosis of Homer". A sand cast d'ore bronze vase, designed with intricately detailed depiction of the apotheosis of Homer, who rises upon an eagle with outspread wings, flanked on either side with an armed Achilles and melancholy Odysseus. Body of vessel has flowering arabesques culminating in swags of olive leaves crowned with eagles and the busts of satyrs.
