Mounted builder's half hull model of the ship "George T. Hay" done in 10 lifts. Stenciled on backboard "A.E. Schofield 36 Mugford St., Marblehead, Mass.". In old finish, probably the original finish. Provenance : From the collection of a prominent American maritime dealer.
The George Hay was built in 1887 at Spencer's Island, Nova Scotia. She was hit by a whale in 1905 and eventually abandoned in the south Atlantic in 1906.
Lot includes a photograph of the ship just prior to her launch.
