Pair of Empire Mahogany Armchairs Stamped "Jacob D R Medee"
This pair of capacious, perfectly designed and executed chairs was created by the workshop of George Jacob and his son, Francois, during the Empire period at their Parisian workshop on the rue Meslee. The Jacobs were a prime furniture dynasty during the end of the ancien regime well into the 19th century, producing furniture to the highest standards for the elite of whichever government prevailed. This pair has great color, patina and is sized for the modern person. These chairs retain what is believed to be their paper label delivery labels as well. Most likely delivered to Jacques-Pierre de Villemanzy while he served as Senior Commissary of Napoleon's armies prior to 1809.
